Midnight Monorail
A downloadable game for Windows
TOP 20 WINNER of the GMTK 2020 Game Jam.
Welcome conductor, to the MIDNIGHT MONORAIL! It looks like you'll be stuck with the graveyard shift...
Build the tracks necessary to transport passengers to their stations. But watch out! Although you are able to build the tracks, trains will spawn out of your control, so it's your job to make sure they don't collide by using your ghostly abilities, letting them phase through one another!
After 5 collisions it's GAME OVER! How high of a score can you get?
CONTROLS:
- Click to place tracks during build mode.
- Click on trains to make them incorporeal for a second to avoid collisions.
POST-JAM VERSION:
- Misc bug fixes.
- Less starting lives, now harder to cheese it!
- Red radius around points now doesn't allow you to place points too close together!
- Trains are highlighted when hovered over.

how dumb am i for not knowing how to launch a downloaded game?
After downloading the zip file, go to file explorer, select it, then right click, click "Extract All" then set a location where the game would be, after that go to the extracted file and search for the game there, the file that's the game would probably just be the game name so just open that and that's how to download and play a game in itch.io :)
so... you can get a really high score by just layering like a million tracks on top of eachother highest score with this method is 264758 with 20366 cash
PLEASE give the option to disable that flashing line that goes across the screen, it is annoying at best and seisure-inducing at worst.
Not sure what you are talking about. Could you be more specific?
Okay I keep trying to screencap it to no avail, it's like one of those flashy lines that you see going down on old VHS tapes?
Huh, interesting. There definitely isn't an effect like that in the game, and this is the first time I am hearing about it. The closest thing I can think of is maybe the clouds or fireflies are rendering improperly? Or maybe it's a problem with the way Gamemaker games run on your machine? If the ladder is the case it may be out of my hands unfortunately.
My high-score: 107124
